Just received this in my email.

European Fraud Investigation Committee

We recently arrested a group of West African / Ghana, Benin and Nigerian Internet scam Artists in London and we have reasons to believe you have been one of their numerous victims. whoa blogger is severely screwing up.

anyway haven't posted in a daaamn long while. lots of stuff happened, law camp (which was fun) and other stuff like float building etc.

so yeah now that school starts i can officially say that school sucks.

urg why must everyone in this batch of law students be such horrible muggers??? i feel pressured to study. also I've been studying everyday? doing readings for every tutorial (i've given up on reading for lectures). I still dont really understand the subjects cos i tend to zone out during lects. esp the impt topics like tort and contract. gg to me.

so yeah ive been drowning in work but... i think after the 2nd week ive sort of gotten used to it.

and when i go to work it'll prob be worse...

I don't even know where gaming fits in there any more. somehow or another ive just lost interest in gaming. I genuinely fear for my geek cred. I'm afraid im getting so old that video games no longer hold any allure to me. or maybe I've just switched alliances to comic books, but then again im not downloading green lantern or anything so yeah... who knows WHAT i do with my spare time? I know I dont.

I guess i intended to channel whatever energy i had into the webcomic/unicycling but I haven't touched the unicycle in weeks and can't really seem to find the motivation to write. only lettering has kept me plodding along.

also there's the whole problem of readership. not sure how im gonna advertise. maybe a shoutbox on the site maybe a good idea? and arrrgh now the archive page has some problem...

it could be just my end though. my internet has been screwy especially when it comes to video streaming. i think my desktop is just way too addled with countless trojans and spyware for it to function properly. It's like my PC has gotton brain damage after getting too many STDs.

read the first panel. This is EXACTLY what I've been wondering for the past 10 years. Pehpeh was right. Whatever you have thought of, someone else somewhere has thought of it before (so you might as well plagiarize).

If we were to see the world through someone else's eyes... like if our consciousness gets into someone else's brain. Would we see a screwed up colour scheme? what about a world where everything looks like photo negatives or one with psychedelic purple skinned people?

And of course there's my theory that colour blind people are just those with screwed up colour perspectives. Like red and green to them is probably like violet and indigo to us?

Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand.

All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guity beyond words about these things.

For example when we're back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do, but it's not enough). I appreciate the fact that I and we have affected and entertained a lot of people. It must be one of those narcissists who only appreciate things when they're gone. I'm too sensitive. I need to be slightly numb in order to regain the enthusiasms I once had as a child.

On our last 3 tours, I've had a much better appreciation for all the people I've known personally, and as fans of our music, but I still can't get over the frustration, the guilt and empathy I have for everyone. There's good in all of us and I think I simply love people too much, so much that it makes me feel too fucking sad. The sad little, sensitive, unappreciative, Pisces, Jesus man. Why don't you just enjoy it? I don't know!

I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy and a daughter who reminds me too much of what i used to be, full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm. And that terrifies me to the point to where I can barely function. I can't stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I've become.

I have it good, very good, and I'm grateful, but since the age of seven, I've become hateful towards all humans in general. Only because it seems so easy for people to get along that have empathy. Only because I love and feel sorry for people too much I guess.

Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I'm too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away.

updates on my life. Last day of work today. woot. I'm typing this right now in the office lol. got lots of projects lined up. gonna exercise more, learn cooking, maybe pick up boxing again (however fate seems to be against me on this one, constant cancellations ftl. James if you're reading this, I'm sorry that all attempts for both of us to go boxing ends up in your car getting wrecked. Seriously, $1k ++ for rims? rims so ex meh?)

speaking of wreaking cars, I'd like to propose a national pasttime, which is driving with Wai Leong. I've never had more fun in a car than when Wai Leong is behind the steering wheel. I bet sex in a car isn't even half as fun. So far I've compiled a whole bunch of Wai Leong car quotes. Once I have enough I'll post them on ftw.

hmmm what else. Unicycling... is progressing albeit slowly. I'll have time to practice everyday once i stop work. I think I finally got the trick to it. It was something I read online but promptly forgot, which is to rest all my weight on the seat.

And finally, the webcomic. It's progressing smoothly and fantastically thanks in a large part to Edmond. The newly COLOURED pages have just blown my mind. Plus thanks to his fireworks lessons I'm really confident about doing the lettering now. It shouldn't take me all that long to do it. Probably max an hour per page. Right now it's shaping out to be beyond orsum. I have big hopes for this little project and will post it up on a wordpress somewhere once chapter 1 is done.

Also I'm going to fight crime with my rorschach mask. But don't tell anyone lest my secret identity be revealed

so anyway other updates. My 2nd sis got me a unicycle! excellent. Just came back from trying it out downstairs.

Unicycling is hard. Much harder than i expected. It's sort of like having to relearn the bicycle all over again. Today i managed a max of 2 rotations of the wheel in total, while leaning heavily against a wall. Yeah kinda pathetic. Plus i sweat like crazy. It's rly not easy maintaining your balance.

other updates... finally read finish beck. the last few chapters took FOREVER. Also for some strange reason they have reappeared on onemanga. I rmb they used to be dead links cos got some company complain.

And finally... The Breakfast Club is the definitive teen movie. Excellent beyond pure excellence! And I <3 Ally Sheedy. zomg so chio. they don't make movies or girls like that anymore.

Went to court today... it was painful.

Not just mentally but also physically painful. First off, the case is really really really stupid. the judge recognized that and tried to get the 2 parties to settle.

that took 3 hours.

3 hours of sitting around doing absolutely nothing. Watching the clients then the lawyers go in and out of the judges office. And then the stupid clients decided they couldn't settle. Mostly it's the opposing counsel's client i think. He's an asshole. Our client clearly can't pay him the money he wants and he doesn't want to accept an alternative payment. What a dick.

then break for lunch.

then the trial started.

And it was one of the worst debates in human history. I think our lawyer is a total noob. I could totally pwn his ass. He may have 20 to 30 years experience but he's just awful at getting to the goddamn point. He spent the next 4 hours, asking the witness 2 questions. Just rephrasing them in different ways over and over. It was torturous. I just wanted to scream and take over from him. I actually banged my head against the wall a couple of times listening to him spar verbally with the opposing witness.

Let me try to summarize the case for u guys. Our client is an orchid breeder. Their client hired our client to breed orchids so that they can be registered to make a profit. Our client bred the orchids. Now they claim that they wanted 50 new species and instead they got 50 new hybrids. This is despite the fact that YOU ONLY GET HYBRIDS VIA BREEDING DICKHEADS! YOU NEED TO GO INTO A JUNGLE TO DISCOVER NEW SPECIES. So these idiots who don't know shit about shit, suddenly think that they are being cheated. They are so stupid that they stupidly invested money into an area where they have no knowledge or expertise, then realised that they MAY get cheated, then stupidly came to the WRONG CONCLUSION that they ARE being cheated.

So these retards decided to sue for the money back even though all the money has already been invested into growing the damn orchids. Our client obviously can't pay and is sitting around with 50 new hybrids THAT CAN MAKE MONEY IF REGISTERED, LIKE THEY AGREED! But Nooooooo. They decide to not just register the hybrids and make the damn money but sue.

These IDIOTS who were dropped on their head too many times as babies would rather spend a hundred thousand dollars, hiring lawyers to sue a poor guy who can only declare bankruptcy if he loses. so they spend $100,000++ to get back $150,000 worth of unretrievable cash instead of just registering the goddamn orchids and making a profit. These goondoos would rather be $250,00 in the red than to break even.

All this over what? over whether the words xin1 hua1 zhong3 (new flower type) means species or hybrids.

if it weren't for the risk of permanent paralysis i would seriously think of taking up parkour. ok so as a tall guy i can probably reach ledges easier, but i wont have good balance. I also have a very variable fear of heights. I'm afraid of falling off tall buildings but somehow im not afraid of jumping between one and another? I know that doesn't seem to make sense but i've noticed that i get queasy when i look over ledges in like hdb corridors but i'm surprisingly fearless when im climbing something or another.

you should be surprised just how popular it really is. just google kyonko and you will find a WEALTH of related images and material.

there is also this video which they showcase some final designs. some of them are done quite well. some are disturbing (ryoko and the very last image)

my personal thoughts? kyonko is done perfectly, they really managed to capture the spirit of kyon and his personality in a female form (lol kyon's love of ponytails?). yet at the same time she doesn't look like kyon in a dress.

haruki on the other hand... shudder. I mean he's just kyon with a hairband! Since haruhi was supposed to be an eccentric beauty, I expected haruki to not look so plain looking and that hairband is so ghey. Myt guess is haruki (in essence) is supposed to be this eccentric sporty/ all-rounded honour student who is at least attractive to girls? I realise that it sounds wrong that I'm complaining that a guy character is not good-looking enough but i mean the male version of haruhi should at least do the female one justice right? and not be just some plain energetic guy with a gay hairband.

the other main charcters are also done quite well. itsuko reflects the spirit of itsuki rather well. plus his slight gayness has now turned into full out lesbianism? lol?

yuki is done very well... then again he/she was easy to translate. no complaints. exactly like how i imagined it.

mitsuuru is... a surprise. I didn't expect him to look like this. but the more i think of it the more he seems to fit the feel of the story. so yeah mitsuuru may just be mikuru without breasts but he works surprisingly well as the token "effeminate guy who looks more like a girl than even the girls"

oh yeah! bunkmate nicholas just brought in a whole fatlot of comics that he borrowed from his friends. this includes 100 bullets, long halloween and.... FABLES!

yeah fables is fun/awesome read. i've only read 2 of the collections previously so far from the library but DAMN its so much better when u can follow the continuity. Big Bad Wolf kicks ass yeah! and i love the way they remake some characters. prince charming as the smarmy free-loading ex-husband of snow white, sleeping beauty and cinderella... goldilocks as a gun-touting crazy girlfren of baby bear... awesome stuff.

also... in other news, walla walla at holland v has a kickass band on thursday nights! a singing drummer, a six-string bass, 3 guitars including a sick lead guitarist and a 7-string ibanez weilding rhythm guitarist. plus they do all kinds of songs and the lead singers voice is pretty awesome.

just finished watching dark knight. hooo.....

excellent movie. I thought iron man was the best superhero movie this year, dark knight tops it by a mile. it tops batman begins by whole lightyears. yes heath ledger was good in it. maggie gyllenhal was... awkwardly ugly with long hair. as much as I love her acting ability, honestly her role didnt require much and I would have appreciated better eye candy and a lot more believable love interest. when they start calling her an outstandingly beautiul woman im like waaaaat? not really.

heath ledger was good. not exactly worth the oscar hype but definitely comparable to jack sparrow in potc1 in the way he immersed himself and made the character his own. he really embodied anarchy in his role as the joker. he will be dearly missed. and I admit it, i was wrong to have doubted his casting a couple of years back. he probably did a better job than mark hamil (who i initially thought should have gotten the role) ever will.

i especially loved his dissapearing pencil trick.

the whole harvey dent thing was slightly unbelievable as the show wore on. I wont reveal any spoilers but lets say that the progression is believable up till one point when his character just suddenly does something unexpected with no link. everything up to that point was pretty well done by aaron eckhart who of course totally owns in thank you for smoking.

dark knight was so good, batman 3 will probably suck... sadly enough.

aaaaand anyway with that, all the good movies i've wanted to watch this year are over... well maybe except for wall.e.

next year is the year of the WATCHMEN

YEAH! considering its done by the same guy who did 300... itll probably be an accurate following of the excellentabsolutebest comic of all time, since 300 the movie was an exact carbon copy of the comic. the only thing about the trailer whcih i hated was i thought that there was too much posing. watchmen was about real believable characters. they shouldnt be striking poses. especially not rorshach. why is he slowly sweeping the make-shift flamethrower across like that? he should use it fast hard and brutal. also miss jupiter's outfit looked surprisingly sexy. in the initial release posters they looked corny and were a sharp deviation from the comic.

eh i've been in a rather bad mood lately. let's just say that i've been cheated of a large sum of money due to my own greed, foolishness, gullibility and impatience. the guy who cheated me was a lying bastard who deserves to burn in hell as well but... nvm that. bottomline is i'm not going to sim lim ever again.

so these past few days i've been trying my best to move on from this incident but it just keeps coming back to haunt me. you know how it is when u try to let go and move on but it just keeps coming back to haunt you? I know it's a very trivial thing. It's just money after all. but... it's hard to let go when u keep thinking "what if i'd been more careful" etc.

it's called electric light orchestra. how did I stumble upon them. this actually takes a brief anime history lesson.

while searching for densha otoko (train man), I found 2 exciting details.

1. the ending song is the same as the last stage of ouendan 2

2. This is the opening song

twilight by electric light orchestra... or ELO as they're commonly called

then I found out that this opening is in fact a tribute to a famous video done by a bunch of university friends for a sci-fi convention called DAICON IV. these group of friends eventually form together to become GAINAX.

wat an awesome video! from 1983 no less! this video was of course the defining moment that brought us GAINAX. without DAICON IV there would be no evangelion, flcl, karekano, gurrenlagaan etc etc

in other news. im gonna be hunting mas selamat. im stationed at the northwest coast so if u want u can come visit, but ull have to drive into a live firing area.

this is sort of a gd thing and a bad thing. good thing is my shift is 12-24. 12 hrs duty, 24 hrs rest. though its actually less than 24 hrs cos we have to report in 2 hrs earlier + transport and the returning of stores after as well. today was worse cos a tree fell, blocking the road back. getting back to gedong camp took 1 hr, cos i had to go the long way around to tuas then back to lim chu kang, in a rover (the shiny new SUV type actually) that drives at a max speed of 50km/h cos of the speed wiring restriction thing that beeps and cuts ur power.

bad thing is all my plans, which i reserved for june, i.e class chalet, church youth camp, driving test etc are all affected by this shift system. i honestly would rather not be involved in this shit cos even if i was back in jurong camp, it would be lull period for me. plus my weekends would be free. hopefully when new specs come early june they can take over... but how many r coming? who out of all of us will they take over?

meh ill enjoy my stay at home for the time being.

i was of course looking for the songs that i know, and were well done. there were some doing utada hikaru's automatic and evangelion's cruel angels thesis. they were horribly out of tune, though the singer of automatic did very well to mimic utada. she sounded like a tone-deaf utada.

anyway since my knowledge of jap songs consist mainly of j-drama and anime themes... thats all u'll prob see here. if u have a larger playlist of japanese songs, i suggest u check out the links cos some performances were very good but i didnt put them here cos i dont recognise the songs.

hi all.

been back from taiwan for a few days alrdy. been too lazy to blog. plus i had to wait for my frens to send me all the pics. the last few days of rnr are awesome. bought some cool shirts, a nice pair of shoes, a light sabre and sat on some awesome themepark rides.

hold on. did i say i bought a lightsabre?

yes i did. the "peew! Peew!" sounds of the arcade machines nearby helped abit to add to the effect.

oh yeah and the rides i was talking about.

TOTALLY KICKASSS! scariest ride i took in my life. It was so extreme that nobody could scream as we were going down. the g-forces or just pure fear was stopping us from making a noise. notice in the video, the ones screaming are those watching? of course this was a vid taken by some other person online. my fren hasnt sent me the one we took.

first person view. notice again nobody screamed. there was only one half-scream near the end of the drop. this was what i experienced first-hand.

u know how truly dirty u are when u can rub the dirt of ur skin. not bathing for 9 days ftl.

ok sleeping in a rover for 9 days is not fun. its very cramped and cold at night. plus mosquitoes and HOUSEFLIES!!!

why issit there are lots more houseflies up in higher ground? they buzz and constantly land on you which is much more annoying than the mosquitos. the mosquitos are sluggish in the cold air though.

got to visist a tourist attraction as a rebro sitew though. had a place where natural gas bubbled from the spring, so there was fire on the water. gonna ask my fren to see if he can post the vid on youtube.

The Matt Damon vs. Jimmy Kimmel Saga

Read about this on the newspaper a while back. About this whole prolonged saga on a talk show which encompasses an intense rivalry between a talk show host and Matt Damon. Funny shit how they manage to drag on a running joke as long as possible. I love it when comedians do that. The saga culminated into the final two videos of this post, which has set youtube viewing records and all that shit. The final video is still the best, how they managed to get so many famous stars, I'll never know. So anyway, here is the saga in (what I assume to be) chronological order.

The little mexican guy is funny as shit lol! Apparently he's like a side chracter on the show, the parking lot attendant(?), cos the show is sort of held in a club-like setting, thus explaining the doors at the end of the above video.

This girl is Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Kimmel's girlfriend of 5 years. She's also a comedian. This is the Jimmy Kimmel Show's 5th anniversary episode. According to my sister, she has hideous shoes which, after I watched the full part of her interview to find out more, were given to her by kimmel when they first started dating, that's why she wore them.

I'm rmbring watching american idol last week. i know this is a bit delayed but there was really one song that struck deep into the chords of my soul. And it wasn't sung by my favourite singers either.

I'm a huge fan of that heath-ledger-rocker michael johns and i admittedly have a huge crush on the andiemacdowell/juliarobertsesque brooke white. BUT it was the song by the asthmatic little boy with the mexican fastfood last name, david archuleta, that really inspired me.

not his performance though. I thought it was crap. his song choice.

cos i've heard that song before. and as i heard him singing it, i couldnt recognize it at first. then when he sang "we're all someone's daughter/ we're all someone's son" i thought to myself: where have I heard this line before...

then when he went to the chorus (see the title of the post). I rmbred.

the original song was so much better. and it was so thoroughly uplifting and inspiring.

and it was in an inspirational scene featured in a movie called hot rod, which i watched in camp.

I've always wondered why nintendo has been so pirate friendly recently. After all, not too long ago, nintendo consoles still ran on cartridges that made piracy really difficult. but of course the wii was modified within weeks of its release and playing pirated games on the ds is easier than poking a straw through the top of a bottle of yakult.

all this changed recently.

it was all a ploy by nintendo. You see, the console market has always been dominated by the ones that are the most pirate friendly. thus explaining the success of the ps and the ps2. however, having pirate friendly consoles meant that game developers lost money. since the biggest game developers for nintendo were nintendo (best selling games are mario and zelda) they kept anti-piracy measures rather strict and thus lost market share to sony.

so now nintendo learnt from their mistakes. while sony makes its consoles near impossible to pirate with blu-ray and constant psp firmware updates. nintendo steadily allows its wii and ds to be the top-selling consoles on the market by making it super pirate friednly.

Then when consumers are lulled into a false sense of security, they STRIKE swiflty and with great prejudice with THIS!

isn't this the cutest little error message ever? well it isn't! It's been dubbed the "thank you for playing error message from hell" the "moogle of death" that affects pirated ds that try to play final fantasy crystal chronicles:ring of fates.

wii owners are not spared when they are AMBUSHED unawares with THIS!

when they attempt to play super smash bros brawl on a modified wii. even those who bought an original copy of ssb are not spared. all modified wiis are affected. poor james has been severely dealt a blow because of this. especially since ssb is THE game for the wii.

nintendo has issued their ultimatum... the reckoning is upon us...

It has finally happened. my ear phones have decided to die on me.

after surviving 3 trips through tthe washing machine, my old sony earphones have moved on to a better place. more specifically the right earphone died. so today i bought new ones. panasonic with a free carrying case. so that it doesnt get sent through a maelstrom of laundry detergeant again.

havent treid out the sound quality but the box says "turbo bass" and since im a bass freak i guess itd be good.

only prob is it doesnt fit my ear as well as my old sony ones. the in-ear rubber is thin and just not spongy enough. what's more the earphones are angled. weirdly. so they dont actually fit.

so after fiddling around with it abit i finally got it to fit nicely by

a) swapping the medium-sized rubber earbuds with the small ones, which are slightly more spongy

b) wearing the earphone that says "L" in my right ear and the one that says "R" in my left ear.

riiight. panasonic should improve their earphone designs. blech.

normally im a very careful buyer but this time I just anyhow buy. cos im booking in later tonight and my earphones died late last night. next time i prob wont get panasonic.

plus i bought it at best denki. so it is overpriced. ah well..... at least it comes with extensions and a carrying case... which the sony one doesnt have.

Juno has the wittiest lines ever written. imagine tarantino's best lines... then make tarantino younger (gen y instead of gen x), a woman, and capable of having enough stamina to fill an entire film script with excellent dialogue from front to back.

in other news... i borrowed half of batman:the long halloween again. it seems im destined to never read the full long halloween. this copy is missing the last few chapters so i can read the ones in the middle that i missed. i still think im missing 1 or 2 chapters.

just finished watching sweeney todd. I thought it was a rather good movie... but that may just be because im a tim burton/johnny depp fan. Well I liked it alot. Its definitely a million times better than charlie and the chocolate factory.

a very classical shakespearean revenge tragedy with song. my only gripe was that it was rather humorless. I liked tim burton's quirky sense of humor. the show just seemed so serious, though there were some funny moments (1 or 2 at most).

the gore is definitely shocking, cos the blood is such a striking bright red.

as for the singing... the guys outperformed the girls tenfold. depp can sing. i dont know why ong sor fern griped about his singing but it was definitely. not as good as ewan mcgregor, but there were some moments where i kept thinking back of moulin rouge. the sailor whatshisname is obviously a trained broadway singer so no problems there. toby was real good too. a promising young musical actor.

now the women sucked. helena bonham carter can just barely sing. the best thing i can say about her singing is that she can carry a tune. other than that her voice is weak and forgettable. acting wise, she's alright i guess. burton could do worse... but he could also do better. however singing wise... it just proves beyond a doubt that the only reason helena got the role was because she is sleeping with burton, as much as I like her as an actress (especially in fight club) I think her recent movies have all been her weakest performances yet.

joanna has an annoying whiny voice. her voice is well trained. but it is a constant mezzo soprano. when she sings, the pitch is so high that glass shatters and dogs start barking. its like fingers scratching on a blackboard... with a tune.

funnily enough the mad beggar woman was the best singer amongst them... and she intentionally sang out of tune too.

and then of course there was borat. with his outrageous accent... its hard to judge his singing.

o well overall good show. decent songs. engaging plot and excellent ending. I don't want to spoil it for everyone but... the ending was good let's just leave it at that.

RIP Heath Ledger.

ok so i know i've been giving heath ledger alot of flak for being the joker. now i sorta feel bad about it now that he's dead.

dont get me wrong, i think heath is an excellent actor. I thought he was great in 10 things i hate about you and if i'd watched brokeback im sure i wouldve thought his acting there was great too.

it's just that i am a firm believer that mark hamil is the best to play the joker that's all. even if mark is a little on the short side.

after seeing this trailer i guess i was pleasantly surprised. heath's joker is very reminiscent of the good parts of jack nicholson's joker, all the while being so much darker and sadistic. He probably wouldve been a better joker than nicholson. Plus he got the mark hamil laugh down perfectly.

i guess i wouldnt actually know without watching the movie itself but heath wouldve been an ok joker. i still believe mark would be the best but heath wouldve done a great job with his physical presence.

however, i get the feeling that heath was just copying the best parts of jack and mark's joker and not making a real joker of his own.... good job though

right. i rly shud have updated this a long time ago but i didnt. so there. I realise i havent done a "just words" entry in about 1 month? 2?

since new years' approaching, i wanna make a resolution. i'm gonna set aside some of my monthly pay every month to buy stuff. maybe save up to buy a console or two. and cool shirts. i want to order lots of cool t-shirts online. but to do so i'll need to buy in bulk to make it worthwhile. so once in a while next year i will announce my intentions to buy t-shirts from a specific website and all can pitch in their orders. never realised drmcninja had so many cool shirts... itll be next on my priority....

reading alot of MxO. pretty good. I kept reading and reading with the nagging feeling that i recognise the art style or the humour. its only after 50 chapters did i bother to check the authors name and realise its the same guy who did the very excellent Pretty Face.

both very decent comedy mangas. though i guess i enjoyed pretty face more since it was more comedy less action. i was never all that much into magical battles and whatever. which prob explains why i still have edmond's fma and have not watched it finish yet. I was however pleasantly surprised that they manage to leave the main character more or less powerless. no crazy powerups or anything. just the introduction of the very limited Mo card and his ingenuity.

urg waiting for my fave manga updates take forever. esp since i'm always so picky with what i read.

watched beowulf yesterday with the guys (do i still call them the ftw guys? the blog is dead and wai leong is always included even though he doesn't blog)

why would anyone scream out his own name in the middle of attacking a sea monster. i'll never know.

daryl enlightened us to the possible hypothesis that beowulf is a pokemon. he shouts his name when he attacks. beo-beo-wulf. wulf-wulf-beowulf. beowulf!

i want to have a warcry that consists of just my name. JOOOOOOOSHUAAAAAAAAAAAA! pehpeh says i need a cooler name :(. he's so full of it just cos his warcry of "I AM RAAAAAAANDYYYYYY!" totally pwns us all.

i have also come to the conclusion that beowulf needs better gear, especially when fighting dragons. his short sword may add +20 to damage but it has -2 range, such that he can reach further into the beast's chest barehanded than when he's carrying a sword.

after the movie, wl once again entertained us with his Misadventures in Public Toilets (he should write a book). here is an excerpt.

"i was like shitting in the public toilet right? and halfway through shitting i leaned forward, and the auto toilet flush start flushing. i was like wtf? so i leaned back. but the auto flush became stuck and every 4 seconds after it finished flushing, it would start flushing again. i was not done shitting yet right? i was half full of shit, so i just sat there and the toilet kept flushing and flushing. so i was like shitting and flushing shitting and flushing. and after i left the toilet was still flushing. when i walked out of the cubicle there was some guy standing there staring at me like im some kinda weirdo but it's like not my fault right? wtf? the stupid auto flush is stuck! its not like i want to keep flushing the toilet as i shit!"

oh and wai leong shamelessly ordered us to buy him a new walking stick for christmas. cos his old one makes noise as he walks and he finds it hard to be stealthy and ninja-like with a creaky walking stick. pehpeh suggested a weighted walking stick that can be used as a weapon... very ninja. i suggested that he should have a dragon headed handle... also very ninja.

so protestant and catholic Christians are kinda pissed at the mormons for "twisting the scripture" and then claiming to be "part of the family". also they are pissed that the mormons claim that the book of mormons is more accurate and superior to the bible... hence explaining the black dude's outrage when they tried to present him with the book of mormon.

incidentally, if ever u are approached on an mrt by 2 smartly dressed ppl with name tags wanting to share Christianity with you... those are mormons. they always dress smartly and travel in 2s. it's a mormon thing.

another manga reccommendation yet again. seems im watching anime less and less these days. only reading manga.

Mysterious Girlfriend X! a really cool rom com(?) manga. urabe is seriously weirder than haruhi. and she has amazing telepathic/empathic drool and kickass scissors skills.

errr yea. its a romance of the very weird variety. awesome stuff.

and though it mentions the word sex on like the first page of the first chapter, this manga is actually cleaner than most of the shonen stuff out there today. this manga is like cleaner than chobits to say the least.

oh yeah and i also read a couple of chapters of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. rather cool having the eternally negative sensei interact with the eternally positive student. props to janice for recommending this.

i'm really dissapointed with my fellow bunkmates. they can't tell the difference between a real girl and a tranny. ok heres the story, theres this like... person... in our camp that is skinny... ok more like slim. u know thin, in a girlish way. when he/she/it books out in civvies, it wears girls jeans (definitely girls jeans. 100%) a very short top (not shirt, top) which just barely but not quite bares the midriff. just short of showing the belly button. also it wears makeup and has boobs(?). actually the boobs part is kinda confusing. i dont really think it has gone for an operation yet... most likely it wears a padded bra.

so anyway. my bunkmates, 4 guys who are by no means innocent of the ways of the world are dissappointingly enough convinced that it is a girl. how can they not spot a tranny?! it is so obviously a guy!

here are some easy steps to tell the difference between trannies and real girls:

1) trannies are more effeminate

real girls do not sashay. they do not have limp wrists and they do not giggle behind the fingers of their open palms. real girls are definitely more masculine than gays because they do not feel the need to enforce or display their feminine nature.

2) the freakin adam's apple!

yes always check that! sometimes some trannies may not have broad shoulders. they could have very agreeable (in their eyes) bone structures. but the apple does not lie! admittedly we have alaways seen it at a distance so yea it was kinda hard to see its throat.

3) girls in the army do not have to keep short hair

the shortest hair i have seen a female officer/specialist have is a sort of page boy cut. which would have failed a hair check any day. it obviously had short regulation hair. though stylishly done in a haley berry kinda way. the last thing a girl (or in fact, anyone) in the army wants is to be forced to have ridiculous army-standard haircuts.

4) girls in the army are typically bo chup about their no. 4s

ok we actually had to have xavier, who got posted to the ops branch, where it sometimes goes, to point this out to us. it wears tapered no. 4s. the standard issue no. 4s were definitely sent to the tailors so thatit hugs the figure and accentuates the butt (urgg it seems so wrong typing it out, moreso than when we were speaking abt it). i have not seen any female army personnel do that. most girls end up looking rather dumpy in the no.4s. it is always rather baggy, unless the girl is tall then the camouflage print somehow hides this fact a bit.

so that's it! 4 easy steps to spot a tranny in ur army camp from a mile away! i cant believe im the only one in my bunk who got it right. (cos xavier helped to confirm that yes he is a guy). now jerome owes me over $50 cos he stupidly bet his whole wallet that he was a girl.

it is much harder to spot girls who dress like guys. guys who dress like girls is easy.

ok so luckily they released us for the weekend. no longer confined. however im going back later today at 8pm. sucks to be me.

got zelda and chibi-robo for my ds. niiiiice. zelda is without a doubt the best looking and playing game on the ds right now. and only 64 mb! its amazing what they did with the touchscreen controls.

i find im looking forward more and more to eyeshield 21 now. go go hiruma! ive never felt so excited abt a sports manga since... ippo's storyline was at its peak? i think? im just abt ready to give up reading bleach tho. i seem to be reading it more out of habit than enjoyment these days.

oh yeah and astro city is good. another gem in english comics. it doesnt explore anything new tho. same themes that have already been visited in alan moore's the watchmen and i guess v for vendetta as well. but still very nicely written. lots of homages to existing comic book characters.
