and it's police SERVICE not FORCE cause we don't wanna sound too agressive.
just finished watching hot fuzz and its the most fun i've had watching a movie since kill bill vol 1.
it is perfect representation of all that is good and sacred of british humour. it starts off with clever scripting of witty quips and intelligent visual gags... sort of what you'd get in a modern british sketch show (goodness gracious me, the sketch show...) then near the end it blows up to pythonesque proprtions of absurdity, making the show thoroughly hilarious and exciting. the point break scene was of course the icing on top of the cake.
the whole murder mystery thing surrounding the plot is not all that suspenseful, they did not do much to create multiple suspects and leave the audience wondering who the killer could be. basically they painted big neon flashing lights on one guy saying "he's the killer" such that you come to expect a twist and when the twist comes you feel yourself becoming coldly perplexed at the absurdity of it all... sort of like how the main character himself felt upon discovering the truth.
also the ending sucked. it was just taped on for the heck of it... like the writers couldnt think of a way to end the movie properly or anything. sort of reminds me of monty python and the holy grail's crappy slipshod ending.
*spoiler*
it probably should have just ended with the line about "alot of paperwork to do" and not dragged on to include yet another gunfight scene, another huge explosion, and a way to resolve the whole sea mine in the evidence room issue.
*end spoiler*
o well the only thing i didnt like about it was the ending. the rest was a'ight. the lack of suspense was not really a gripe cos it wasnt really aiming to be a suspense movie... it think. all in all one of the best and subtly funniest movies ive watched in a long time.
